Farhad Moshiri tells talkSPORT Marco Silva is STAYING at Everton, says manager is planning for long-term
Marco Silva’s job as Everton manager is not under threat,Farhad Moshiri has told talkSPORT.The Premier League club’s majority shareholder insisted he will ‘hold his nerve’ and put his trust in the ‘talented’ Portuguese coach to get it right at Goodison Park.Silva, appointed as Sam Allardyce’s successor last summer, has come under fire from supporters after just three wins from their past 12 Premier League games.Marco Silva has had a tough start to his Everton reign2

Everton were booed off the pitch following their3-1 defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Saturday and they currently sitting ninth in the table, 14 points adrift of the top six.Moshiri has not been afraid to make a managerial change since arriving at the Merseyside club, having dispensed with the services of Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman and Allardyce during the past three years. But in a discussion with Jim White at his offices in London on Monday, the British-Iranian businessman expressed his confidence in Silva and insisted Everton are building for the long-term under the 41-year-old.

What Farhad Moshiri told Jim White

It is a project. The Everton fans quite rightly demand young football.“We want young players to develop – they need to play.“Marco Silva is a talented coach but hes planning long-term. “He will coach and develop those young players and every year those same young players will become stronger. In this business you have to hold your nerve.Moshiri’s disclosure came after Allardyce, Silva’s predecessor, branded the decision to sack him last summer as ‘ludicrous’.Allardyce had led the Toffees to an eighth-place finish in the 2017/18 Premier League season but was shown the door just six months into his reign. He told talkSPORT on Tuesday: “The type of football I played at Everton, the fans said it wasnt good enough and I would say the same I knew it wasnt good enough for Everton but I knew I had to get them in the position where they were safe. Then let me build the team, let me spend the next 80m, 100million on the players that will make Everton much much more fluid, much more creative and go forward and score more goals and hopefully finish better than eighth.Sam Allardyce was disappointed to lose his job as Everton manager2

“They talk about my style of football, well Ronald [Koeman] went and they said he played the right style of football. Roberto [Martinez] went, everybody said he played the right style of football, and I went because I didnt play the right style of football. It is about trying to entertain and win, that is the ultimate, but you have to keep winning first to change the things that need to change. If I got sacked because my results werent good enough at Everton, I’d accept it, but getting sacked when they finish eighth, it is ridiculous. In fact, it is ludicrous.
