David Brooks: Wales midfielder signs new long-term contract with Bournemouth
David Brooks has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Bournemouth, the Premier League club have confirmed.Brooks, the Wales midfielder, has impressed throughout his debut season with the Cherries having only joined from Sheffield United last summer for a reported 11.5million.The youngster has scored six goals in 26 appearances for the south coast club, and he’s admired by the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.However, he has committed his future to Eddie Howe’s side by signing fresh terms.“When talks started about a new deal it was something I wanted and it didnt take long to sort out,” Brooks said.“When I arrived at the club, not many people would have anticipated the start I have made – myself included. “Im happy with the amount of games Ive played and the performances Ive put in for the team.“Ive loved every minute of my time here so far and Im really happy to extend my contract.”Howe added: “David has impressed everyone from the minute he stepped through the door, with his mature, creative performances on the pitch backed up by a good attitude and professional lifestyle off it.“This contract means he can concentrate on developing his game with us, and its been an excellent start to Davids AFC Bournemouth career.”Brooks began his career in Manchester City’s academy and spent 10 years with the reigning Premier League champions before switching to Sheffield United in 2014.

He made 33 appearances for Chris Wilder’s side after debuting in August 2016, earning a well-deserved move to Bournemouth last July.Born in Warrington, Brooks represented England at Under-20 level and was named the best player at the 2017 Toulon Tournament. However, he later switched his international allegiance to Wales – his mother is from Llangollen – and was handed his senior debut later that year.The 21-year-old has since won eight further caps for Ryan Giggs’ side, though he remains without a goal to his name.
